a layout & project life

Anyone recovering from this weekend's national scrapbook day? I actually didn't have a chance to scrap, but cleaned out my closet instead. Don't be jealous.

This layout went up over the weekend for the festivities at Two Peas.
I had fun playing around with the elongated hexagon wood veneer shapes from Studio Calico. Paired with washi and stamps I think it gives them a new look.

I also had a new project life video go live. It was a fun week to put together and I added the challenge of working with some clear accents.

Confession: I am behind on project life. Confession #2: I am okay with it. I started project life with the real idea that I would probably fall behind. You know what? It is a-okay. The weeks I do document are more than I would be getting down if I hadn't even started at all. I do plan to go back and get the weeks I'm missing...probably in a more simple way, but I am enjoying the project and the process regardless. I hope this encourages you if you are behind to not give up!

creative space tour

If you happen to like checking out scrap rooms, mine is up with a video tour over on the Two Peas blog.

A "video tour" sounds kinda silly, but someone on the message board had mentioned it would be cool if the garden girls filmed a room tour, so I did. I tried not to make you too dizzy :) You can watch it here.
National Scrapbook Day is coming up this Saturday. A day dedicated to scrapbooking? Yes, please. Marcy and I will be having a chat on the Two Peas message board that night, so please join us! I'll have a layout going up that day that involves these lovelies (which happen to be on sale).
Who can get enough wood veneers? Not me.

gardeners' digest//april edition

Hello there! Welcome to the April edition of the gardeners' digest. Thanks for coming from Jill's blog. If you are new to the hop you can stop by the Two Peas in a Bucket blog for more info.
Well, this isn't really a 'coming soon' as my projects have already went up for the month, but I do have a project life video here
and a color themed layout here.
Jen Kinkade is the newest edition to the design team. This girl knocks my socks off. Check out her first layout.
I have never worked primarily with a pastel palette, probably because I could never make it look this good. Super inspiring!
Here's a few products I am currently excited about that have made their way into my bucket.

color pop paper from heidi swapp: this paper in person is insane. The colored sections have a varnish so it's shiny. Very cool. I have the yellow, with the black and white coming.
clear pop mint alpha from heidi swapp: remember when HS had ghost alphas? I know I am still hoarding some somewhere. They are back, kinda! These are a clear mint and on their way to my scrap room. Can't wait to play.
oxford lane enamel dots by MME: one of the newest sets of enamel dots to come from My Mind's Eye and they have some in WHITE. yes.
up and away stickers from MME: another great collection from My Mind's Eye. Loving the bright colors. Perfect for summer.
serendipity stamp set by Elle's Studio: love this stamp set uses different fonts and fun sayings. I think it would be used lots.

Thanks so much for visiting today! Now you are off to Wilna's blog. Enjoy your day :)

simple summer countdown

We CAN NOT wait for summer around our house. I mentioned in my last post that I made a summer countdown chart. It's about as simple as you can get, but makes me all kinds of happy looking at it and watching those numbers disappear. I typed the words "we can't wait for" on top of a sewn arrow pointing to a pink (are you shocked?) sticker "summer". I tucked in a few summery looking pieces of paper and that was it for the title.
Using the dates we are actually IN the school building (and not homeschooling, because for some reason the boys don't consider that real school. I haven't decided if that is a good thing or not.) I used some of my fave stamps to randomly add the numbers. I might be using these stamps too much. I can't help it. I knew from the moment I saw they were going to be released that they would be one of those sets you use all the time for pretty much everything and I plan to do just that.
Annnnnyway...The idea here is that after each day we add a strip of washi tape to cover up the date. I just let the boys pick whatever tape they want out of the basket. Maybe it'll look like colorful confetti strips once it's all filled up. And at the bottom of the page...yippee! Because no more dates mean summer break which means popsicles and water gun fights and flip flops and bike rides and lightening bugs and fishing poles and canon balls and campfires and sleeping in and...can you tell I am excited? :)
That pink overall wearing gnome is pretty pumped about summertime, too. He's looking out for it.
Anyone else have a countdown going on, or is it just me?

winner & a video

I can hardly believe it is April. Like, mid-April. I already have the countdown on for how many more days of school are left. Yes, I started the countdown. Not my kiddos. Maybe it's because we homeschool part time so mama is ready for a break. Maybe it's because I wanted to play with stamps and washi tape. In any case, I made the simplest countdown to summer chart that I'll have on the blog tomorrow.

How's project life going for you all? I am behind. I knew I would be. I'm a pretty laid back person anyway so I anticipated being behind. I'm not stressed about it in the least. I'll probably go back and do those weeks and maybe I won't. Either way, I've got some weeks of everyday life around here documented so in my view, it's all good.
I have another project life video up on Two Peas in a Bucket, where you can watch me put together a week's spread. It makes it more fun if you count how many times I say "umm" and laugh at myself ;) I added a challenge of including a mask, something I rarely bust out for a project life page. Mask using is made easier when you use ink instead of spray ink. You can see it all here.
The winner for Amy Tan's newest mini workshop at Two Peas is...Madeline. Yay! I'll pass along your info so you can get set up in class.
